About Top Minecraft List?
Top Minecraft List is a multiplayer server list for Minecraft that ranks servers by user votes. It tries to be fair for smaller communities! Things are different nowadays. Gone are the days of simply listing your new server in a few forum threads across various sites and attracting enough players to get your community started. This hurt us right in our gut seeing this. Now all new servers have to rely on are server list websites like this one.
HOWEVER, new servers are at a great disadvantage when it comes to this. Many of the Minecraft server lists only accept auctions for their top sponsored slots and naturally, they have what seems like an endless bankroll to bid and secure the top slots. I mean if you are some eighteen year old kid starting a server can you really compete with $4,000 - $10,000 bids? 99.99% of you could not. This is why we have created Top Minecraft List.
How Are You Different?!
We keep the #1 sponsored slot open for bids, like any other server list. Sponsored slots #2 - #5 will be reserved in the future for PREMIUM MEMBERS. This premium membership will be $9.99/mo. So nothing too crazy. How it will work is Sponsored Slots #2 - #5 will display servers owned by premium members. Every page view/refresh will display and rotate out different servers owned by premium members.
We know this will limit our potential income when we are not getting $5,000 bids for certain slots etc but we feel this is just the right thing to do. We hope, eventually, the premium membership fees can more than make up for the fact we are not taking bids on the last four slots. Either way, we feel better about ourselves knowing we are doing the right thing regardless. $9.99/mo is something just about everyone on this planet can afford and we hope this can, in some way, help the smaller communities thrive and survive!
We Need Better Moderation & Filtering
We need to be different from other server lists. Server exposure should not just depend on server votes alone. We should find a way and attempt to promote smaller servers as well which can be from community highlights, staff server picks etc.
We should also have better checks for bot votes and have a moderation team on servers being added to confirm they have the gamemodes and features they are advertising. These are all just examples on various ways to make us stand out from other server lists! More will come in the near future!
Just Use The Official Server List
Sure... but that does not address the issue at hand. It is like saying:
"You do not need your own Minecraft server, just rent a realm!".
We love the idea of the official server list and will always support it but it cannot and will not be the only solution players use to find new servers. We are trying to make an impact and change the third party server lists!
Not to mention how it takes months and months to get through the review process and that is only after you have already been put on the server review waitlist. We still do not know how long that even takes in of itself as we just recently got the notification "we are adding servers to the waitlist sometime later this year." o.0 so....
